Indications

Therapeutic group: Sympathomimetics

Therapeutic activity: Otrivin constricts the nasal blood vessels, and thus reduces nasal congestion. This enables patients suffering from colds to breathe through the nose.

Otrivin is used for fast relief, up to 10 hours, of nasal congestion.

Instructions

Do not swallow! This medicine is intended for external use only.

Blow your nose gently. With your head upright, spray the medicine into each nostril (simultaneously blocking the other nostril with a finger) and inhale short breaths while rapidly, and sharply squeezing the bottle. The number of squeezes will be according to the recommended dose. Wait 3-5 minutes. Gently blow your nose again, and repeat the procedure if necessary. Rinse the tip of the spray bottle with warm water, taking care that no water enters the bottle. Dry with a clean paper tissue and close tightly. To avoid spreading of infection - do not use the same bottle for more than one person.

Recommended dosage unless otherwise prescribed by your doctor:

Children 2-12 years: 1 spray into each nostril every 8-10 hours.

Warnings

Do not use this medicine if you are sensitive to any of its ingredients or other preparations for nasal congestion.

Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant.

This medicine is not intended for children/infants under 2 years of age except under the advice and supervision of the doctor.

Prolonged or excessive use may cause worsening of congestion and injury to nasal mucosa. Do not use this medicine frequently, or for more than 3 consecutive days, without consulting doctor.

Do not use this medicine without consulting a doctor before starting treatment: If you are breastfeeding. If you are suffering, or have suffered in the past, from impaired function of: the heart and/or vascular system (including hypertension), the eyes (e.g. glaucoma), the thyroid gland and diabetes. As well, after trans-sphenoidal hypophysectomy or after nasal or oral surgical interventions.
