Advil Cold & Sinus
Liqui-gels capsules for relief of the symptoms of colds and flu, nasal congestion, malaise, accompanied by temperature and pain.
Active Ingredients
Each Liqui Gel capsule contains:
Ibuprofen 200mg
Pseudoephedrine HCL 30mg
Indications
Ibuprofen belongs to the Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID) group.
Pseudoephedrine belongs to the Vasoconstrictors group (vasoconstriction of blood vessels) which acts on the nasal blood vessels for relief of nasal congestion.
The combination of these two medicines is used for the relief of common cold and flu symptoms associated with pain, fever and nasal congestion.
Instructions
Do not chew, crush or divide the capsule! Swallow the medicine with a glass of water.
Take this medicine with or after a meal.
Take this medicine with food or with milk in cases of heartburn or abdominal pain.
If the symptoms are severe consult a physician.
Dosage, unless otherwise directed by the physician:
Adults and children over 12 years of age:
1 capsule every 4-6 hours as long as symptoms persist. If pain or fever does not respond to 1 capsule, 2 capsules may be used.
Do not take more than 6 capsules in a 24 hour period.
Do not take longer than 10 days, unless directed by a physician
Do not exceed the recommended dosage.
Stop treatment and consult the physician, if fever goes up or lasts for more than 3 days, if pain gets worse or lasts more than 10 days, nasal congestion lasts for more than 7 days, symptoms continue or get worse, redness or swelling is present in the painful area.
The smallest effective dose should be used.
Warnings
This medicine is not intended for children and infants under 12 years of age.
Do not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
Do not use this medicine if you are sensitive to this medicine or to any of its ingredients.
Do not use this medicine if you are suffering from problems or severe side effects, or if you have ever had an allergic reaction (such as bronchial spasm, rhinitis or urticaria) after taking any other fever reducer and pain reliever.
Do not use right before or after a heart surgery.
Do not use this medicine if you are suffering or have suffered in the past from a peptic ulcer or gastrointestinal bleeding.
Do not use this medicine if you are sensitive to aspirin or salicylates or Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAID).
Do not use this medicine if you are being treated with antidepressants from the Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOI) group, or within two weeks of ceasing treatment with a medicine from this group.
Do not use this medicine if you are suffering or have suffered in the past from serious cardiovascular disease, tachycardia (heart rate faster than normal of more than 100 beats per minute), hypertension, angina pectoris, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, phaeochromocytoma (tumor in the adrenal gland that may increase blood pressure, heart rate and cause headache), narrow angle glaucoma, or enlarged prostate.
Do not use concomitantly with other medicines from the NSAID group.
This medicine may cause hypersensitivity upon exposure to sun. Therefore avoid exposure to the sun and take appropriate protective measures (long sleeve clothes, hat, sun block cream etc.)
Do not use this medicine frequently or for a long period without consulting the physician. During prolonged treatment with this medicine, the following tests should be performed: blood, urine, liver, kidney and eye function.
Administration of this medicine may cause stomach bleeding especially if you:
- Are over 60 years old
- Take a blood thinning (anticoagulant) or steroid drug
- Are taking other medicines from the NSAID's group [aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen,or others]
- Consume more than 3 alcoholic beverages per day
Do not use this medicine without consulting a physician before starting treatment:
- If you are suffering or have suffered in the past from impaired function of the thyroid gland, respiratory system (e.g. asthma, nasal polyps), the heart, kidney/urinary tract (enlarged prostate), digestive system (e.g. heart burn, ulcer, abdominal pain), the liver, eyes (e.g. glaucoma), or if you suffer from blood hypertension, coagulation disorders, diabetes, lupus erythematosus or connective tissue diseases.
- If you are taking diuretics, or any other pain reliever, if you are taking another medicine which contains pseudoephedrine or any other ingredient that reduces nasal congestion.
- If you are over 60, consult a physician before taking this medicine.
- If you are receiving long term medical treatment.
